Two Washington authors finalists for Literary Peace Prize

Two book covers: "Barkskins" by Annie Proulx and "While the City Slept" by Eli SandersWashington authors Annie Proulx and Eli Sanders are finalists for the 2017 Dayton Literary Peace Prize, an international award recognizing the power of the written word to promote peace. The Dayton Literary Peace Prize invites nominations in adult fiction and nonfiction books published within the past year that have led readers to a better understanding of other cultures, peoples, religions, and political points of view.

Annie Proulx’s nomination is for her novel Barkskins; Eli Sanders’ nomination is for his nonfiction work While the City Slept.  Here is the full list of finalists.  Winners will be announced November 5, 2017.

Both of these books are also finalists for the 2017 Washington State Book Award; winners for that award will be announced on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at a free event at the downtown Seattle Public Library.
